Classics

Although speculative literature may be among the most radical and cutting-edge fiction of today, it stands in a long and living tradition, and owes its character and existence to a wide range of precursors.

Streams as diverse as science fiction and surrealism, expressionism and fantasy, futurism and experimental fiction, dada and pop art, have all contributed to the new postmodern literary condition exemplified by speculative literature.

Our Classics section features works by earlier writers in the speculative vein, such as Kafka, Breton, Rimbaud, Verne and Wells, the Strugatskys, and other classic or neglected mentors whose works remain valid and moving still.
